2022 marked the 300th anniversary of George Graham's measurement of the daily declination of the Earth's magnetic field, and the 190th anniversary of Carl Friedrich Gauss' measurement of the Earth's magnetic field intensity.

Carl Friedrich Gauss
a watchmaker, measured the variation of magnetic declination by observing the movement of a magnetic needle. He recorded the angle changed by about half a degree within 6 hours in a day.
measured the absolute Earth’s magnetic field. He also developed a mathematical model that successfully describes the field.
measured and documented the Earth's magnetic field at your location on the globe at MagnetiSiM 2022.
